FIRE-POLISHED VASE WITH APPLIED CABACHONS AND FOIL INCLUSIONS
A magnificent 13 3/4" tall museum quality vase offering fabulous
glass and multiple techniques. The opal colored opaque and clear
cylinder has layered light to dark orange glass, which has been
acid-etched, wheel cut and fire-polished. It has two applied
cabachons, one bright green at the top, backed with a foil inclusion,
which appears like an insect. The other one is a dark umber, which
serves as the center of the sunflower design and is wheel carved.
There are also foil inclusions in the glass behind this area as well. It
is signed with the "japonese signature" wheel-carved into the
bottom, "Galle" with a decorated design around it. There
are no chips, cracks or repairs. An outstanding and rare example for
the advanced collector.
